Everyone has their own way of making rice, here is Dunar’s way:
- STOVE TOP COOKING: measure 1 cup of rice, and rinse 1 to 2 times thoroughly. Place 1 cup of rice and 2-3 cups of water in the saucepan. Add salt to taste. Bring to a vigorous boil. Stir, reduce heat to medium, and let simmer covered for 18-20 minutes. Remove from heat, and let sit covered for 5-10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
- MICROWAVE COOKING: measure 1 cup of rice, and rinse 1 to 2 times thoroughly. Place 1 cup of rice and 2-3 cups of water in the microwave-safe bowl. Add salt to taste. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Cook on a high setting for 8-10 minutes. Carefully remove the plastic wrap and continue to cook for another 18-20 minutes at the MEDIUM setting. Stir rice from time to time. Remove from microwave and let sit covered for 5-10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
- ELECTRIC RICE COOKER: measure 1 cup of rice, and rinse 1 to 2 times thoroughly. Place 1 cup of rice and 2-3 cups of water in the electric rice cooker. Add salt to taste. Covered the cooker, turn it on and cook for 30-35 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
- Cooking Tips: For Best Results soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes.
To cook this rice on the stove top, measure 1 cup of rice and rinse it 1 – 2 times. Put 1 cup of rice and 2 – 3 cups of water in a saucepan, add salt to taste. Bring to a strong boil, stir, then reduce heat to medium and simmer covered for 18 – 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 – 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
In the microwave, measure 1 cup of rice and rinse well. Place 1 cup of rice and 2 – 3 cups of water in a microwave-safe bowl, add salt. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Cook on high for 8 – 10 minutes, then carefully remove the plastic wrap and continue cooking at medium for 18 – 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let sit covered for 5 – 10 minutes, then fluff and serve.
Using an electric rice cooker? Measure 1 cup of rice and rinse. Put 1 cup of rice and 2 – 3 cups of water in the rice cooker, add salt. Cover and turn on, cook for 30 – 35 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
For the best results, soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking.
